Laminated glass
Two or more glass panes bonded with a plastic interlayer (typically PVB or SentryGlas). When the glass breaks, the interlayer holds the fragments in place rather than letting them fall.
Where it works: hurricane-rated assemblies (required), acoustic applications (the interlayer dampens sound transmission), high-security applications (forced entry is harder through laminated glass), overhead glass or skylights where falling glass would be a safety risk.

Tempered laminated glass
